Pregnancy Massage

The benefits of massage can improve overall prenatal health for many pregnant women. Along with the guidance and advice of a prenatal care provider, massage therapy can be incorporated into routine prenatal care as an emotional and physical health supplement proven to improve pregnancy outcome, and maternal health. Receiving massage during pregnancy is an excellent way to address the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies, as well as a time to focus your attention into your body. Women can begin massage therapy at any point in their pregnancy – during the first, second, or third trimester.

Positioning during the massage

Throughout each of your massage therapy sessions, you will be lying on your side using a body cushion (specially designed for pregnancy) to ensure proper comfort and positioning. MyoWellness pregnancy body cushion is meant to provide adequate support to your extending belly, your neck, head, and back so that the whole body feels well rested. Our therapist will place an additional pillow between the knees, so that there are no strains within the pelvis. After treating your back, your gluts and legs, your therapist will then place you in a semi-seated position to work on your pectorals, your neck and abdominal.
